🌲 Tour Overview

The Hart River Expedition is one of the Peel Watershed’s best-kept secrets — a wild and remote journey that combines steady Class II whitewater with some of the finest wilderness hiking in the Yukon.

Accessible only by floatplane from Dawson City, the Hart flows north through stunning alpine valleys before joining the Peel River. For 8 days on the water, paddlers navigate swift currents, braided channels, and friendly rapids that make the route exciting but manageable for those with intermediate paddling skills.

What sets the Hart apart is the exceptional hiking. Each valley opens opportunities to climb ridges and take in panoramic views across the untouched Peel landscape. Imagine finishing a day of paddling, setting camp on a gravel bar, then hiking high above the river for a sunset over endless mountains and wilderness.

Wildlife thrives here — from caribou and moose to Dall sheep on the ridges and raptors soaring overhead. Nights are spent in pristine campsites, where Yukon Wide’s renowned riverside cuisine ensures the adventure is as comfortable as it is wild.

This 10-day expedition blends the freedom of a classic Yukon river journey with the bonus of world-class hiking, making it an ideal choice for paddlers seeking a versatile, off-the-beaten-path adventure in the Peel Watershed.
